The implementation of "cat tail grass + oat grass" rotation planting is a new exploration of "green rich and prosperous" in Zhangwu County based on resolutely fighting and winning the Horqin Sandy Land annihilation war. This year, the county has planted more than 3,000 mu of cattail grass in Qingquan, Hongfeng and Sanjiazi, three grassland villages in Zhanggutai Town.
Bold practice comes from sufficient preparation in the early stage. "In recent years, the management committee has continuously carried out planting experiments. Previous experiments have found that cattail is more suitable for the soil conditions in Zhangwu area, and has good sand-fixation effect, wide market sales and high economic value, so it can be popularized." With the goal of developing the cattail industry, Zhanggutai Town increased investment promotion efforts, successfully attracted the Zhongna Ou Road Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. at the beginning of this year, and fully implemented the cattail planting and processing integration project.
"Our cattails and oat grass will be used as important raw materials to be processed into feed for racehorses, cows and herbivorous pets and exported abroad. According to the market situation this year, it is expected that the participating farmers can increase their income by more than 1,200 yuan, and next year, the planting area will be expanded to 6,000 mu, and more people will get rich." Zhang Jingli said.
